The situation of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz in the European People’s Party could be settled, Antonio Tajani, former president of the European Parliament, said in an interview published on Thursday.
In his interview with Hungarian daily Magyar Nemzet, Tajani voiced his Forza Italia party’s support for Fidesz, and said it was important that Fidesz should stay an EPP member.

Tajani said it was “unfair” of the EP to question the rule of law in Hungary, whereas it was “more lenient towards Malta, ruled by a leftist government”.
