Hungary supports a proposal by the Azeri government for the UN General Assembly to hold an extraordinary session on the handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said on Thursday.
Szijjártó said on Facebook that Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov had informed him about the initiative, and he considered it a sensible proposal. The handling of the pandemic is a global task calling for coordinated measures and mutual support, he added.
Coordination could take place, for instance, in building strategic capacities as well as developing and manufacturing equipment for health protection, he said.
Hungary supports the call for an extraordinary session and has already informed the UN Secretary General accordingly, he said.
