The four-day STRAND Music Festival in Zamárdi ends as festival-goers visited Lake Balaton in unexpected numbers. Despite the horrendous weather, the festival welcomed more than 72.000 visitors. Heavy rain plagued the event, organized by VOLT Production and National Radio Petőfi, but despite the elements, no concert or program had to be canceled.
“The most important is, that with the second year of Strand a new and truly successful festival was born”, said Norbert Lobenwein, one of the organizers of Strand. The festival is now one of the biggest tourism event of the Balaton Region. MTVA’s Radio Petőfi reported live from Zamárdi for the whole duration of the festival, broadcasting the festival experience throughout the country.
The Zamárdi festival saw the performance of a number of Hungarian and international stars, including a concert of John Newman on Saturday, where almost 20.000 people danced away in the heavy rain. The Strand Festival was organized as part of the the Nagyon Balaton (Very Balaton) event series, which will continue on until October.
