Temperatures this past spring in Hungary have been on average almost 2 C. colder than usual, with more “freezing” and “snowy” days registered, the Hungarian Meteorological Service (OMSZ) said.
The mean temperature during the season was 9.3 C as opposed to 11.2 in 1991-2020.
The last time spring was cooler was back in 1987, OMSZ said on Thursday.
For the first time since 1901, the average temperature in May remained below 14.5 degrees for the third year in a row, it said.
Temperatures dipped below zero on 23 days, as against the spring average of 15 days. The number of snowy days was six, twice the average, OMSZ said.
