Socialists Demand Minister’s Resignation Over Patient’s Death
The opposition Socialist Party has filed a complaint with the chief public prosecutor over the death of a patient in a Budapest hospital and demands that Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler, who is in charge of health, should resign, the party’s deputy group leader said on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Ildikó Borbély Bangó referred to press reports on the death of a 55-year-old patient awaiting surgery to receive a special implant at the Gottsegen György National Cardiology Institute.
The special surgery was to be performed by a cardiologist who had in the meantime been relieved of his duties by the minister.
Kásler’s decision to sack a highly needed professional is proof that he is unfit for the post, Bangó said.
