Sniper Shoots and Kills Transcarpathian Hungarian in the Donbass
Sándor Úr died at the age of 34 when shot by a sniper near Volnovakha in Eastern Ukraine on Tuesday.
Úr served as a contracted soldier in the Ukrainian army’s 128th mountain brigade. He will be buried at his current residence in Zaporizhya where he lived with his wife and one-year-old son. He is originally from Eszeny (Esen’) in the Ungvár (Uzhgorod) district.
To date, 100 Transcarpathian soldiers have died in Ukraine’s conflict with Russian-backed separatists in the Eastern part of the country. Úr is the tenth Transcarpathian Hungarian to have died in the so-called ‘anti-terrorist operation’ in the Donbass.
