Serial Production Of New Audi TT RS Model Has Begun In Győr, Hungary
Audi Hungaria Motor, the Hungarian unit of German carmaker Audi, started serial production of the new Audi TT RS model in Győr (Northwest Hungary) on Wednesday, the company told news agency MTI. The new model was first presented in Beijing in April. The newly-developed 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine for the sports car is also made in the Győr plant.
Audi’s vehicle plant in Győr, opened in 2013, has capacity to make 160,000 cars a year. Of the headcount of 11,370, more than 4,000 employees are currently manufacturing the Audi A3 Limousine, A3 Cabriolet, and TT Coupe and Roadster models. Audi will also produce its Q3 model in Győr in future, for which a new 80,000sqm car body plant will be built here. Audi Hungaria Motor had revenue of 7.906 billion euros last year and € 3,697 million in the first half of 2016.
The company has invested €133 million in Győr in 2016, most of which was spent on the introduction of the new engine variants. With this sum, the total investments have reached € 8,140 billion since 1993, when the company was established. Audi Hungaria produced 1,031,887 engines in the first half of this year, while 63,798 new vehicles rolled off the production lines in the same period.
