“Road-Show On A Reformation Way” – Truck Marking 500 Years Of Reformation Arrives To Debrecen

Launched at the initiative of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe, the truck features an interactive exhibition presenting the European cities with a key role in the history of Reformation, Reformed Bishop Karoly Fekete told MTI in front of the local Great Church.

Geneva, 3 November 2016: Events that mark the 500-year anniversary of the Reformation are being launched today in the Reformation city of Geneva. Federal Councillor Alain Berset gave the welcoming address. The Reformation truck, which will travel from Geneva to 67 Reformation cities in 19 countries, was unveiled at the international commencement. Events to mark the anniversary will be held in Switzerland and throughout Europe in the coming months. The aim is not to return to a mystical date in history, but rather to reflect on what the Reformation means to the generations of today and tomorrow.

The truck left the city of John Calvin, on Nov. 3 to reach Wittenberg in Germany by the opening of a World Reformation Exhibition on May 20.

Further stops in Hungary will include Sarvar and Sopron in the west.

I am proud that they have come to Hungary. In any case the ‘Hungarian Geneva’ had to have a place in this series,” the bishop said.

The Memorial Year of Reformation will include close to 400 events in the Carpathian Basin.
