Press Reports: WizzAir To Establish Direct Air Link Between Budapest And Macedonia

Hungary-based budget airline WizzAir is to launch a direct flight from Budapest to the Macedonian capital Skopje, according to Hungarian travel website

The establishment of a direct air link between the two capitals has long been on the agenda, the website writes, pointing out that the new flight is not yet featured in WizzAir’s booking system. If the flight is launched, Skopje will be the 100th destination accessible from Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport.

WizzAir has so far declined to disclose further information concerning the new flight.

It currently takes between 8 and 9 hours to reach the 500 000-strong Macedonian capital on road from Budapest. This would be cut to around an hour and 15 minutes with the establishment of the new air link.

The discount carrier has announced the launch of several new services from Budapest in January; early in the month, it named three new destinations – Iceland, Liverpool and Ibiza -, while Romanian capital Bucharest was added to the airline’s schedule soon afterwards.

According to WizzAir’s booking system, 23 destinations are offered by the airline from the Macedonian capital.
