Number of Deaths Up 52% in November Compared to Same Month Last Year

A total of 15,366 people died in November this year, 52 percent more than the total of 5,279 deaths in the same month of 2019, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday.

According to KSH, the rate of population decline increased in the first 11 months of 2020 after 4.4 percent more births and 3.3 percent more deaths were registered compared with the same period last year.

The number of deaths registered in November exceeded the number of deaths by 52% in the same month last year, so the natural decrease grew by 190%, according to the KSH. The number of deaths rose considerably, by 26% in November 2020 compared to the previous month as well, the natural decrease going up from 4,216 in October to 8,032 by November.

The rate of natural population decline was 0.9 percent higher than in the same period a year earlier, KSH said.

The number of marriages increased, with 63,994 couples tying the knot, 3.1 percent more than in the same period last year.
