A staff member at the Gaudiopolis Lutheran nursing home has accused László Donáth Lutheran minister and father of opposition Momentum MEP Anna Donáth, of alleged harassment, pro-government channel TV2 reported.
The pastor has repeatedly made sexual offers to the employee and assaulted her by grabbing her breasts and genitals, according to the report.
In addition to working as a Lutheran minister at the Gaudiopolis nursing home, László Donáth was a Socialist (MSZP) MP between 1994 and 2010. His father Ferenc Donáth was a politician, historian and the secondary co-defendant of the Nagy Imre trial. Also, Donáth is the father of Anna Donáth, who is a newly elected MEP and Vice President of the liberal opposition party Momentum.
A relative of one of the elderlies nurtured in the Budapest home talked about the incident.
I heard about a nice woman working here who had quit recently, and I heard people talking about that this happened because one of the pastors had harassed and mistreated them but they hadn’t dared to report it because he was well-connected.”
Liberal news site 24.hu writes that a 30-something cleaning woman could be the one who was sexually harassed by the pastor. According to the site, it was the woman who reported the case.
Meanwhile, police have confirmed that a criminal investigation had been launched on June 13 for sexual harassment, but they didn’t give the name of anyone involved.
Reacting to the accusation, László Donáth told leftist daily Népszava that he thought it was clearly a smear campaign and the real target was not him but his daughter. Police haven’t contacted him to this day, not even as a witness. Therefore, he cannot comment on the matter, Donáth added.
