Plans Of Airport Train System Development To The Liszt Ferenc Airport

A feasibility study been created about the airport train system developing at the Liszt Ferenc International Airport of Budapest. According to the Ministry of National Development, there would be a 22 kilometers long double tracked and electrified line between Kőbánya-Kispest and Monor to link the airport of the capital to the public transport system of the city.


There is no information about the starting date of the constructions and the estimated time of accomplishment yet. However, the line can be found in the plans of developments in Budapest 2024 Olympic Games bid’s plans.

In Hungary the cost of 1 kilometer of electrified double tracked rail is 3billion forints (3.640.870 USD). The construction will be an incredible expensive investment developing at the airport. By the way there are other plans of developing as Liszt Ferenc International operator Budapest Airport will start constructing a 5.2 billion forint (EUR 17m) pier at terminal 2B in December as all of the necessary permits have been acquired, business daily Világgazdaság reported.
