The Paks nuclear power plant’s number four block went back online on Friday after a technical malfunction on Thursday caused a reactor trip, operator MVM Paksi Atomerőmű said on its website.
“After the malfunction was resolved, the Paks power plant number four block was again operating at nominal capacity from 1pm on August 14, 2020,” the operator said.
The malfunction caused an automatic shutdown of the plant’s number four block at 3:45 in the morning on Thursday. The trip had no effect on nuclear safety.
Each of the plant’s foaur blocks has a nominal capacity of 500MW. Paks accounts for about half of domestic electricity production.
