Orbán to Attend EU Teleconference on Belarus on Wednesday

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will attend a teleconference of European Union leaders on developments in Belarus, called for Wednesday, the PM’s press chief confirmed to MTI on Monday evening.

For days, the Hungarian government did not disclose anything about its stance with the Belorussian events. Meanwhile, both Fidesz’s youth organization Fidelitas and the Christian Democrat’s (KDNP) similar body (IKSZ), refused to sign the European People’s Party’s (EPP) youth organization’s statement.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Hungary backs Poland’s call for the presidential election in Belarus to be repeated with international monitoring.
