Opposition Párbeszéd Calls for ‘Clear’ Vaccination Protocol

The government should clarify the protocol for residents applying for coronavirus vaccination, the deputy group leader of opposition Párbeszéd said on Thursday, saying it was unclear whether registration was a pre-requisite for inoculation.

Olivio Kocsis-Cake also complained about the rule that restricts registration by mail to people aged over 60. All age groups should have the option of postal registration, he said, adding that signing up for a jab with employment and family doctors should also be made a possibility.

The opposition politician also said that in addition to health-care and social welfare staff, teachers should also be given priority in the national vaccination plan.

Kocsis-Cake urged the provision of extra funding for health services, especially in rural areas, and launch an information campaign on the benefits and drawbacks of vaccines in order to increase public trust.

Párbeszéd said only vaccines licensed by the European Medicine Agency should be used, and he called on the government to stop exerting political pressure on the Hungarian health authorities to license vaccines. He added that the government should also offer residents a choice between different types of vaccine.
