Operative Board: Restriction Violations More Frequent over Weekend

MTI-Hungary Today 2020.05.02.

Violations of the restrictions introduced in response to the novel coronavirus epidemic occur more frequently in Hungary over the weekend, a spokesman for the operative board coordinating efforts against the epidemic said on Saturday.

This Friday alone, a holiday marking international labour day, Hungarian police had to take action on 1,730 occasions, 399 of which entailed a criminal report, Róbert Kiss told an online press conference.

Since March 28 when the restrictions were put in place, police had to take action in a total of 42,393 cases, he said. Currently, 10,754 people have been ordered to stay in home quarantine, Kiss said.

Answering a question, Kiss confirmed that Hungarians commuting to work or study in a neighbouring country are exempted from home quarantine rules.
