Omega’s Gyöngyhajú Lány Featured in Hollywood Actor Jonah Hill’s Directorial Debut
A couple of weeks ago, actor Jonah Hill – known for his roles in Superbad, 21 Jump Street, and War Dogs – released the trailer for Mid90s. The trailer includes a surprise for Omega fans, as the famous hit Gyöngyhajú Lány can be heard playing in the background.
Mid90s follows Stevie, a thirteen-year-old living in 90s-era Los Angeles, who spends his summer navigating between his troubled home life and a group of new friends he meets at a Motor Avenue skate shop. You can hear Gyöngyhajú Lány at minute 1.38 in the trailer below:
This is not the first time the famous Hungarian rock hit has been used in the US. In 2013, Gábor Presser claimed that roughly one-third of Kanye West’s hit single New Slaves was copied from Omega’s Gyöngyhajú Lány. The lawsuit reportedly ended with West paying 100,000 USD to Presser, Hungaroton Records, and the other authors of the song.
