David B. Cornstein, the United States’ new ambassador to Hungary, said he wants to strengthen ties between the US and Hungary in a message posted on the US embassy’s Facebook page.
Cornstein noted that his grandmother was born in Hungary. “My family’s history illustrates the deep historical ties between our countries, and I am eager to make our relationship even stronger,” he said.
Cornstein presented his credentials to President János Áder on Monday. At a hearing to confirm his appointment before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in May, Cornstein said he would focus on promoting American values and advancing US economic interests in Hungary.
