Buda Entertainment & Gastro, Buda’s latest entertainment complex boasting a “bed cinema” that is unique in its kind in Europe, has opened in the capital. With the redevelopment of the former “Új Udvar” shopping centre near Kolosy tér on the boundary of Districts II and III, visitors seeking entertainment will be welcomed by an airier and more spacious building, recalling the atmosphere of a Mediterranean village. The cinema’s audience will find beds instead of seats in the new venue, ensuring a unique and homely experience for those coming to the movies.
Hopes are that the new, high-standard clubbing venue within the entertainment centre will bear an important cultural mission in establishing a party quarter in Buda under the name “Vienna Quarter”, together with other nightspots in the area. Other recreational facilities in the complex include a folklore hall and a so-called “Art & Craft Market”, unparalleled in Hungary, which is meant to serve as a hub for craftsmen and designers. Sixty workplaces are provided for talented and artisans and a further sixteen for fashion desingers who wish to both introduce and market their products. With stalls and the necessities of retail afforded free of charge, they will only have to be pay a jointly negotiated percentage of their revenue.
The centre will also boast quality cafés and restaurants offering both Hungarian and international cuisine at moderate prices, as well as a members-only VIP club, a 3000 square metre skybar and a cocktail bar.
