Algerian national carrier Air Algérie has announced that direct flights will operate between the capitals of Algiers, the country’s capital, and Hungary. Flights will run twice a week from the 11th of September until the end of October, Gábor Szarvas, the director of community relations of Budapest Airport, said on Monday. Levente Magyar, Minister of State for Economic Diplomacy, mentioned that this is a success of negotiations lasting several long years. Algiers is an important destination because hundreds of Hungarian investors are interested in opportunities offered by the African country, he said.
The reachable destinations and connected airports from Liszt Ferenc International Airport of Budapest has underwent a remarkable expansion in the last few months. For example, Hungarian-based budget carrier Wizzair alone established direct flights to the next airports since 2016.
Gábor Szarvas added that the agreement with Air Algérie fits to the progression of the Airport of Budapest. In 2015, the Hungarian Airport registered the highest passenger traffic ever with more then 10 millions of passengers.
