New Details about Budapest’s ‘Super-Hospital’ Revealed

New details about the construction of the super-hospital in southern Buda has been revealed, news site Index reports. The project that was at the center of some fiery debate between the Orbán government and opposition-led Budapest not long ago is planned to start in 2022.

The foundation stone will be laid in the spring of 2022, and the super hospital will be handed over at the beginning of 2026, the Prime Minister’s Commissioner responsible for the development of the South Buda Center (DBC) told weekly Figyelő.

Róbert Bedros said the hospital would be responsible for caring for 1.2 million people twenty-four hours a day. The facility will be constructed in Budapest’s eleventh district in Dobogó street.

The investment will cost HUF 300 billion. The purchase of medical equipment is included in the price; however, the development of the transport infrastructure is not.
