NATPE Europe: Budapest To Host Region's Largest Television Industry Fair In 2016

The Hungarian capital Budapest is to host the NATPE Market & Content Summit, the largest fair of the television industry in the region, next year. The fair will take place at the InterContinental Hotel between 27 and 30 June 2016.

NATPE describes itself as the leader in developing international markets and conferences for the entire spectrum of the dynamic content business and an inspiration to the growth and success of content development, creation, production, financing and distribution across all platforms through interdependent marketplaces where industry powers gather to offer insight and make deals.

The fair counts as the largest professional event of the television industry in Central-Eastern Europe. Organisers claim to have chosen Budapest because several companies – primarily from Eastern Europe, Asia and the Balkans – have trouble accessing the spring MIIPTV and the autumn MIPCOM fairs, held in the city of Cannes in southern France, due to visa requirements, as well as distances and high costs.

The fair, named DISCOP until 2012, is an international venue for television producers and companies from around the world to meet up and make business, with hundreds of registered producers, distributors and buyers attending each year.
