Milán Gauder has worked his way up the ranks at Mastercard to the point where he is now Global Head of its Acceptance Solutions Group, reports MTI. It is thanks to Gauder that tap to pay machines had such an early arrival in Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Gauder started at Mastercard in 2005 as an account manager, and over the last 15 years has worked his way up through multiple leadership roles. Initially Country General Manager in Budapest in 2008, he has now been is such positions as Cluster Manager for Central Eastern Europe, Head of Emerging Payment Europe, Executive Vice President of Global Products and Solutions for the Middle East and Africa, and Executive Vice President of Product and Innovation in Europe.

In his current role he is responsible for the development of card acceptance physically and online. These developments include payment through mobile phone, Click to Pay, tokenization, and QR code payment.

During an interview with Forbes in 2018, Gauder discussed the preconceptions people may have about others working in different regions of the company’s global locations. “You’re not any less intelligent because you’re Eastern European or don’t have a degree from Harvard,” he said.
