Memorial Song About The 1956 Revolution For The Land Of The Free
The official song for Hungary’s 1956 Memorial Year was written by Desmond Child, the songwriter of Bon Jovi, Ricky Martin, Kiss and Selena Gomez. The track was debuted on the 16th of August in the program of the Petőfi Rádió of Hungary.
The melody, created by renowned US songwriter of Hungarian descent Desmond Child and entitled “Land of the Free”, is presented by an ensemble of popular Hungarian musicians and a choir of 50. The song have a Hungarian and also an English version. The first live performance will be on the 23th of October at the Kossuth tér by the leading of the composer. Human resources minister Zoltán Balog, head of the committee in charge of arrangements for the memorial year, said that the government seeks to involve a broad range of people in the preparations, with the aim to present the legacy of the 1956 anti-Soviet uprising in a rich context. Meanwhile, the promotional film for the memorial year has been published on Facebook and on the website of the programme.
