By 3pm on Sunday, 34.69 percent of the around 8 million eligible voters had cast their ballots in Hungary’s local elections, the National Election Office said.
A total of 2,784,346 people went to the polls before 3pm, the office said. Voter participation in the 2014 local elections was 30.11 percent by 3pm.
In the counties turnout was the highest in south-western Hungary’s Vas, 38.19 percent, and the lowest in eastern Hungary’s Hajdu-Bihar, 30.11 percent.
Voter participation in Budapest stood at 36.37 percent at 3pm.
