By 1pm on Sunday, 26.6 percent of the around 8 million eligible voters had cast their ballots in Hungary’s local elections, the National Election Office said.
A total of 2,134,806 people went to the polls before 1pm, the office said. Voter participation in the 2014 local elections was 23,53 percent by 1pm.
In the counties turnout was the largest in northern Hungary’s Heves, 29.36 percent, and the lowest in eastern Hungary’s Hajdu-Bihar, 23.39 percent.
Voter participation in Budapest stood at 28.36 percent at 1pm.
