Opposition LMP believes the government wants to put an end to the special legal status of all public servants which will mean they can’t count on better pay or state protection, the green-centrist party’s lawmaker, Péter Ungár said on Saturday.
Ungár said it was “cynical” for the government to take away the public servant status of minor positions. He added that the status had been removed for those working in vocational training and culture, and now the same would happen to academic researchers under a bill submitted to parliament.
He said the government’s reasoning that the measure would allow more competitive wages was “a lie”, adding that LMP had submitted a parliamentary resolution that aimed to protect the legal status of public servants.
