LMP Calls for EU to Help People with Disabilities

MTI-Hungary Today 2019.05.07.

Green opposition LMP on Tuesday called for domestic and European Union schemes to help people living with disabilities exercise their voting rights as well as access to housing and employment.

Gábor Vágó, the party’s top candidate in the upcoming European parliamentary elections, told a press conference on Tuesday that access to mobile ballot boxes should be made easier to help people with disabilities vote in the May 26 European parliamentary elections. The EU should also fund housing for people with disabilities and their access to the job market, Vágó said.

He insisted that the Hungarian government did not value people living with disabilities or their carers, Vágó said.

LMP lawmaker Péter Ungár called for higher wages for special needs professionals and allowances for people taking care of an adult disabled family member in their homes.
