Last week, a new blog began leaking stories of Zsolt Borkai, incumbent Fidesz mayor of Győr. In the posts, the author accused him of abuse of power, corruption, the use of drugs, and using the services of prostitutes. Soon after, photos and videos were leaked on the website where the mayor can be seen having sex on a yacht with one of the young women with other scantily clad people in the room.
Last Monday, an anonymous author started publishing stories about a lawyer and his friend’s (a Fidesz mayor) corrupt practices. The blog, called “This is the devil’s advocate” (Ez az ördög ügyvédje) later revealed the individuals in question are Zsolt Borkai, former Olympic champion gymnast, the former president of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, and incumbent and newly running Fidesz mayor of Győr, while the other man is lawyer Zoltán Rákosfalvy, one of the most influential businessmen in Győr, also closely associated with the Fidesz politician.

Rákosfalvy's name had already been circulating in the press years ago. In 2012, the lawyer acquired lands on which -soon after- Audi wanted to expand its logistics center, and following the land’s reclassification, it became extremely valuable, making lots of money for him. After getting casino concessions in Győr, Pécs, and Miskolc, he became one of the biggest casino owners in Hungary. In both cases, many suspected corruption behind these businesses.
Later, several photos and videos -allegedly taken on a yacht trip on the Adriatic sea last year on Pendecole- were also uploaded to the website showing the mayor and Rákosfalvy accompanied by young women. In other pictures, the mayor can be seen having sex with one of the girls. Video footage was also uploaded to one of the most popular porn sites, the link of which was also posted on the blog.

While the blog has not yet provided evidence for the allegations about corruption and other crimes, in one of the most recent posts, the author promises to continue leaking the compromising footage. He also warns Borkai: “I will publish proof of you snorting cocaine,” and “I have other footage, not just from last year’s Pentecost, but you precisely know this.”
Zsolt Borkai has not yet responded to the accusations in any substantial way. He canceled his last campaign event and has issued only a short announcement in which he stated: “I regard the lies published about me as part of the opposition campaign circus, which are intended to distract attention from the incompetence of the Győr opposition.”
On Sunday, he posted a family photo on his Facebook page with the caption, “We hold on. For better or worse.”
Earlier, one of the women appearing in the leaked photos won EU support, government-critical Magyar Hang reports. According to the news site, the young woman and her sister received nearly three million HUF (9,000 EUR ) in a competition to open a wedding dress rental and event organization.
The WordPress page of the blog recently became unavailable. According to the Facebook page called “real face of Zsolt Borkai”, it was “only a poor attempt to silence” the author. He also added that “there is another” webpage, sharing its link.
Only a few days before the local elections, this can be considered one of the biggest scandals of this campaign season in spite of the fact that this year marks a new low in dirty campaign methods (sex videos, audiotapes) in Hungary.
Zsolt Borkai, the mayor of Győr, has admitted that he is in the sex video and photos that were leaked by an unknown person through a new blog, but he states that some of that have been manipulated. He will not resign and will run for mayor this Sunday.
