Leader of Brothers of Italy: Orbán Our Role Model

Hungary Today 2019.09.23.

The Hungarian Prime Minister is a role model for defending his country and its Christian identity, Giorgia Meloni, the leader of Brothers of Italy (FdI) party told pro-government daily Magyar Nemzet. The politician also emphasized that  they are fighting together with Matteo Salvini and the League, so the left-wing government, “which is going against the will of the people, has to face very tough opposition in the Parliament.”

After the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered a dividing speech at the annual meeting of the national-conservative Brothers of Italy (FdI) party in Rome on Saturday, the Italian politician gave an interview to Magyar Nemzet.

Orbán in Italy: Christian Democratic State Has Been Built in Hungary

When asked what she thinks the Hungarian Prime Minister represents in Italy, Meloni replied:

For us, the Hungarian Prime Minister is a role model who, by setting an example, shows how to proudly stay on the European stage while standing up for the sovereignty and Christian identity of his nation, and also defending his country’s borders from mass immigration and the real economy from speculative financing. “

According to the Italian politician, Viktor Orbán has defended these values and even has been willing to confront American billionaire George Soros.

Italian Foreign Minister: Orbán’s Speech in Rome ‘Unnecessary Interference’

Talking about the changed approach in the immigration policy of the new leftist Italian Government, Giorgia Meloni said that “only days after the Democratic Party and the 5 Star Movement coalition had come into power, the number of immigrants landing on Italian territory has dramatically increased.”

The party leader also points out, this shows that traffickers are also aware that they can do even more substantial business if a government leaves its immigration policy to lean towards the left.

We have never made any compromise with the political left, neither with the Democratic Party nor with the Five Star Movement. This is the main reason that we are growing and our support is gradually increasing.”

Giorgia Meloni also talked about Matteo Salvini and the League, emphasizing that they are political allies, co-leading in many regions and municipalities. “We are also pleased that the League has returned to the center-right after leaving its coalition with M5S behind.”  The Italian politician also said  they are fighting together, so the left-wing government, “which is going against the will of the people, has to face very tough opposition in the Parliament.”
