Last Days on the Island of Freedom: More Exclusive Photos from the World-Famous Sziget Festival!

Tom Szigeti 2017.08.17.

And there we have it; this year’s Sziget Festival is officially in the books. As was the case for the weekend, we have compiled a series of photographs from August 14th and 15th, the final two days of the huge musical event.

The festival, one of the largest in Europe.  opened last Wednesday, and had its final evening last night, August 15th. Once again, we at Hungary Today were there until the bitter end, braving hunger, exhaustion, and people dancing around in gladiator costumes, in order to bring back photos of some of the myriad performers from the last two days of Sziget. While we spent a bit of time with some of the festival’s biggest names, we also ventured outside of our comfort zones, checking out everything from Hungarian-Caribbean reggae-rap-rock to Mongolian-Chinese folk-punk to even (gasp!) Opera, in order to provide a fuller taste of what Sziget is all about.

As before, we are again including musical selections from each of the bands pictured, to give our readers a full audio-visual experience.

Come with us, then, on a virtual trip through the last two days of Sziget Festival; trust us, it’s easier than sitting on a train with hundreds of Brits.

And as for us, well, let’s just say we’re taking a two-day nap.
