Krisztián Pars Qualifies to Hammer Throw Final in Zürich


Olympic champion Krisztián Pars is in the hammer throw athletics final at the Zürich 2014 European Athletics Championships, while Ákos Hudi and Kristóf Németh failed to qualify. Pars managed to secure his qualification with 74.44 meters as he prepares to face his Polish rival Pawel Fajdek at Saturday’s final.

Ákos Hudi threw 72.53 meters and qualified 16th, while Kristóf Németh finished with 73.33 meters, resulting in the 14th place. The 2014 European Athletics Championships takes place all weekend in Zurich in the Letzigrund stadium, where 25.000 spectators cheer for their favorites.

Krisztián Pars has thrown a personal record of 82,49 meters just last month and won the István Gyulai Memorial Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix held in Fehérvár, Hungary. Pars has won the Gyulai competition for the forth time, which is part of the International Hammer Throw Challange series (IAAF). The first prize was EUR 1800 (USD 2500). (MTI)
