Youngest Hungarian Chess Grand-master Wins U-18 Blitz Chess European Championship

Hungarian chess player Ádám Kozák, who received the chess Grandmaster title in the 90th FIDE Congress 2019, becoming the youngest grand-master of Hungary, has won the U-18 Blitz Chess European Championship in Tallinn, Estonia.

The 17-year-old chess grand-master first won the U-18 Rapid Chess Championship on Monday, where Hungarian Levente Papp finished second out of 31 players from nine countries. Then, Kozák continued his winning streak at the U-18 Blitz competition yesterday. With a great 7.5-point performance, he finished first after nine rounds in a field consisting of 65 young chess players.

At the International Chess Federation, FIDE’s Blitz competitions, each player has 3 minutes, plus 2 seconds additional time per move starting from move 1, while time controls for each player in a game of rapid chess are more than 10 minutes, but less than 60 minutes.
