Having already won the title in 2013, Hungary’s World and European Champion swimmer Katinka Hossző has again been awarded the LEN Award for the year’s best European female swimmer. With her six European Championship medals and further eight medals at the short-course World Championship last year, Ms. Hosszú came first in the vote with an enormous lead.
The result, estabished on the basis of votes cast by national federations and members of the various LEN committees, was issued by the European Swimming Federation (LEN) on Thursday.
The award is the latest acknowledgement honouring the Hungarian swimmer’s performance last year. Previously, she had finished on top of FINA’s similar vote in December, was voted the best female swimmer at the short course World Championship in Doha, Sportsperson of the Year in Hungary and Person of the Year by the Hungarian magazine Figyelő.
Ez a díj tette teljessé a Katinka tavalyi eredményeit honoráló elismerések kollekcióját. A FINA-nál is elsőként végzett a hasonló szavazáson decemberben, ő lett a dohai rövid pályás vb női legjobbja, Magyarországon az Év sportolója, továbbá a Figyelő magazinnál az Év embere.
Among male swimmers, fellow Hungarian Dániel Gyurta came sixth in the vote, which was won by Frenchman Florent Manaudou.
