Katinka Hosszú Tops FINA World Cup Prize List

Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszú tops FINA World Cup prize list with total winnings of $228.000 (55 million HUF), reports professional site Swimming World. The site keeps an up-to-date listing of the cash won during the FINA World Cup, and this year proves to be an exciting contest as nearly $2 million is up for grabs during a seven-stage, three-cluster setup opening up with competition this weekend in the Middle East.

Katinka Hosszu, nicknamed “Iron Lady” by the site, has turned some heads by winning about half-a-million in cash on the FINA World Cup circuit along.  She’s doing more of the same this year.

Swimmers are racing for $1,500 (1st), $1,000 (2nd) and $500 (3rd) for podium placements, and also are earning up to $10,000 per world-record performance. That’s $102,000 in just race winnings available at each stop this year. After 12 nights of racing, Hosszu has a huge points lead with a quintet of 20-point world-record bonuses from her IM world records.
