Katinka Hosszú Overtakes Federer On List Of 2014’s Top Sports Aces

Lewis Hamilton, the British Formula One World Champion, has come first in a vote organised by European news agencies to identify the best sportsmen and sportswomen of 2014. Hungary’s three-times world champion and Olympic champion swimmer Katinka Hosszú also holds a prominent position on the list.

In the vote conducted by the Polish news agency PAP, the Formula One pilot for tbe Mercedes gained a lead of a single point to triumph over Manuel Neuer, goalkeeper of the world champion German football team, while Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, who leads world rankings, fell behind by eight points to finish third on the list. Among the top ten best sportsmen and sportswomen of 2014 is Hungarian Katinka Hosszú, who has been voted best swimmer of the year by the International Swimming Federation; Ms. Hosszú occupies the eighth position on news agencies’ rankings.

The ten best sportsmen and sportswomen of 2014, according to European news agencies:
