By Robert Velkey // 2016.10.24.

Katinka Hosszú, the world record holder Hungarian swimmer shared her commemoration video of the 1956 revolution and the Olympic Games of Melbourne. ‘Blood in the swimming pool‘ was a water polo match between Hungary and the USSR at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The match took place on 6 December 1956 against the background of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, and saw Hungary defeat the USSR 4–0.

Hosszú pays her respect to the heroes, who were fighting on the streets of Budapest for the freedom as well as for the athletes who were fighting in the swimming pool against the Soviet team.
