Vaccination Open to Foreigners and Hungarians Without TAJ Cards

Vaccination registration has opened to foreigners living in Hungary, ethnic Hungarians living in other countries, and recently repatriated Hungarians, the government’s information center announced. A Hungarian health (TAJ) card is not required.

Registration for non-citizens, Hungarians living abroad, and repatriated Hungarians who do not yet have a TAJ card opened on Tuesday. People wishing to be vaccinated can register on www.vakcinainfo.gov.hu.

The data you need to share to register are: your name, age, email address, telephone number. They also ask if you have a Hungarian TAJ (public health insurance) number. In case you don’t have a TAJ number, the site requests you to enter the number of another official certificates (for instance, personal identity document number, passport number, residency permit number, etc.)

The order in which people are vaccinated is not determined by the order in which they register, but by their vulnerability to disease caused by the coronavirus, the site says.

The government’s information center said that vaccinations would start with foreign residents in the second half of May, followed by Hungarian nationals living abroad.
