More Infections on the Horizon? Higher Coronavirus Concentration Found in Sewage

The National Public Health Center (NNK) has published its recent measures of COVID DNA found in sewage, and the results are worrying. A suggested guideline is also provided.

According to the measures executed on the 35th week of the year, there is an increasing presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus’ DNA in sewage-waters nationwide. The growth of the concentration’s degree in the sewage shows the number of confirmed corona cases by 4-10 days in advance. The results conclude that communal spreading has begun.

The examination carried out by the National Public Health Center (NNK) and the growing number of positive cases show that the pandemic has not yet come to an end, and it is still really important to be disciplined, following the regulations in place, in relation to travel and hygiene.

The NNK provided further guidance for prevention:

• avoid indoor, closed places with numerous people
• social distancing
• proper and frequent hand-washing
• wear a mask in public spaces, such as on transportation or in shops
• younger people partying together should avoid drinking from the same glass/can
• people self-isolating because of travels abroad/other reasons, should strictly adhere to quarantine regulations
• people experiencing symptoms should avoid contact with friends and family, and stay away from public spaces
