“We were shocked by the events,” said Kevin Varga and Ádám Nagy at the press conference of the Hungarian national football team, on how shocked they were by what happened to Danish football player Christian Eriksen during the Denmark-Finland EURO 2020 match.

The two players said that they had just finished their afternoon training, started changing, and heard what had happened. They were shocked by the events and immediately talked about the extent to which it would affect the Danish national team and Christian Eriksen’s family, as they were also on the scene.

On behalf of us all, I wish that he can be with his family as soon as possible.  Although we are doing countless tests, unfortunately, there will always be hidden faults that even the team doctors cannot find an answer to. I very much hope that he will be able to recover soon,”

Nagy added.

The Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) also wished Eriksen a speedy recovery on their social media page.

Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during Saturday’s match between Denmark and Finland at Euro 2021. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during the game and was resuscitated. He feels better now, but still needs hospital care. “Thank you all for what you have done. I’m not giving up. Now I’m fine and I want to know what happened,” said the 29-year-old.
