Hungary continues to support Moldova‘s aspirations for European integration, House Speaker László Kövér said on Thursday after talks with Moldovan counterpart Zinaida Greceanii.
Kövér said the Republic of Moldova’s “geopolitical features accentuate the significance of preserving its inner stability and sovereignty”, parliament’s press office said.
Hungary’s interest lies in the Republic of Moldova being independent, politically and economically stable and continually developing, he said.
“We would like to develop closer relations based on respect for each other and mutual appreciation,” Kövér added.
Hungary continues to support Moldova’s European integration aspirations which was most clearly demonstrated by a scheme that involved both countries’ parliamentary institutions and ended last week. The programme helped strengthen Moldova’s cooperation with the EU and Hungary, he added.
Greceanii expressed willingness to continue the scheme. The two sides were in agreement about the importance of information exchange between parliamentary committees, and agreed on cooperation between the agriculture, environmental protection, climate change and foreign affairs committees.
