Hungary will lift mask-wearing requirements once 5.5 million people have been inoculated against Covid-19, the prime minister’s chief of staff said on Thursday.
As a general rule, masks will no longer be required indoors and people will be allowed to go to hotels, restaurants, baths and water parks without an immunity certificate once vaccinations reach 5.5 million, Gergely Gulyás told a regular press briefing.
He added, at the same time, that masks will remain mandatory in the health-care sector.
As of Thursday, 5,445,544 people have received a first jab, while 4,657,776 have been fully vaccinated.
