Szatmár – Hungary in Pictures

Today in our weekly Instagram compilation, we return to Hungary’s east end by exploring Szatmár. The original, historical Szatmár county is now divided in two; the larger part belongs to Romania and includes the capital Szatmárnémeti (Satu Mare), while the smaller half is the easternmost part of Hungary’s Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. For now, however, we will stay within Hungary’s border.

Szatmár is a beautiful, remote part of Hungary that has a rich history, gorgeous rivers, and is famous for the warm hospitality of its people. It is a perfect location for fishing, canoeing, tasting Hungary’s famous stuffed cabbage and plum pálinka, and taking shorter road trips.
