Coronavirus: MSZP Demands HUF 700 Billion More for Health Care
MTI-Hungary Today 2020.05.22.
The opposition Socialists on Friday demanded from the government to increase spending by 700 billion forints (EUR2bn) on health care and set up a stand-alone health ministry headed by “a competent” minister.
Lawmaker Ildikó Borbély Bangó held an online press conference in response to the prime minister giving a high praise to incumbent Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler for “his historic achievements” in an early response to the coronavirus epidemic in his radio interview in the morning.
Citing health-care experts, Bangó said that several patients died who were left without proper timely care and criticised the ministerial measure of ordering the vacation of 36,000 hospital beds.
She demanded 700 billion forints more to be spent on health care and a separate health ministry to be led by “a professional, who takes responsibility for decisions and also listens to the opinion of health experts”.
