The government will introduce a set of measures aimed at helping parents raising children with type 1 diabetes, the state secretary for family and youth affairs said on Thursday, World Diabetes Day.
The parents will be entitled to receive a home-care allowance (GYOD), Katalin Novák told a press conference.
Accessories required to treat diabetes at home will receive social insurance funding, she said.
Around 730,000 Hungarians are diagnosed with diabetes, and it is estimated that another 500,000 are living with the condition but are unaware of it, health state secretary Ildikó Horváth told the same press conference.
