Hungary Destroys Huge Haul Of Counterfeited Watches
On Monday, staff from the Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) destroyed close to HUF 700m (EUR 2.275m) worth of counterfeited watches seized from smugglers.
The 12 000 watches, bearing fake brand naming, were confiscated by Hungarian officials at the Beregsurány border station from a Ukrainian lorry attempting to exit the country. Selling the watches, counterfeiters would have caused over HUF 680m in damages.
Criminal proceedings have been launched against two Ukrainian nationals in connection with the case.
