Coronavirus: 48 Fatalities, 2,623 New Infections Registered in Hungary

Fully 48 Covid patients, generally elderly and suffering from an underlying illness, died over the past 24 hours, while 2,623 new infections were officially registered, bringing the total number of infected to 405,646, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

The death toll has risen to 14,347, while 308,650 people have made a recovery.

The number of active infections stands at 82,649, while there are 4,489 hospitalized Covid patients, 394 on ventilators.

Altogether 25,589 people are in official home quarantine, and the number of tests carried out has risen to 3,519,536.

Hungary began rolling out the coronavirus vaccine in December. So far, 453,457 people have received their first jab, and 201,005 have been fully inoculated.

The government has extended coronavirus-related restrictions until March 1.
