The government has approved a climate and nature protection action plan, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday.
At his regular press briefing, Gergely Gulyás said the details of the plan will be laid out by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at his state of the nation address on Sunday.
The government has made it clear on multiple occasions that it intends to do everything in its power both in Hungary and in Europe “to ensure progress on green matters”, Gulyás said. The aim is for Hungary to continue to do all it can in the era of climate change to make sure that future generations inherit a country that is in better shape than it is now, he added.
Meanwhile, Péter Harrach, group leader of KDNP (Christian Democrats), highlighted climate change, nature and environmental protection and sustainable development as the topics deemed most important by his party.
