Hungary Celebrates Pentecost: Traditions Kept Alive At Village Museum – Gallery!

Ferenc Sullivan 2015.05.26.

The open-air village museum, or “skanzen” in the town of Szentendre north of Budapest was overpouring with visitors this past weekend to mark Pentecost.

Visitors to the famous ethnographical museum, founded in 1967, could become acquainted with traditions listed in the Hungarian National Register at the Heritage Festival, held on Sunday and Monday.

Hungary’s heritage register, lead by UNESCO, includes over twenty headings, of which the traditional Busó festival of the town of Mohács, Matyó folk art and falconry have already been included on the organisation’s international list.
