Two major Hungarian theaters have received a total EUR 106.000 (33 million HUF) from the Ministry of Human Resources to present foreign Hungarian theaters’ plays on Hungarian soil. The support came from the Secretary of State for Culture, and the entries were judged by a board of experts, while the final decision was based on the suggestions of the Theater Arts Commission.
The Budapest based Thalia theater has received EUR 90.000, while Miskolc’s National Theater got EUR 16.000. The tender was invite only, and its goal is to help guest performances promote theater life from abroad. Hungarian theaters from all over the world can now present shows in Budapest and Miskolc.
